In the «white city» of Arequipa, this dark corridor lit by a skylight was inspiring. By positioning myself like this, the doorway became a stage and the hole in the ceiling acted as a spotlight… When the musicians arrive, the photo is there! An image that immediately made sense to me, having spent years as a guitarist on a theater stage.
Noticing that the two young men had seen me, I went back up the stairs to meet them and show them the photo. I’m often asked if I query people’s permission to take their picture, and I would say that it’s actually quite the opposite. I take their picture, which gives me permission to talk to them and create a bond. So we were able to exchange contact information and we’ve stayed in touch on social networks ever since.
